Having an up-to-date map on your TomTom GPS device can be a big help when you’re trying to travel to new places. With so much of the world constantly changing, it’s important to make sure the GPS map you’re using is up to date with the latest information available. Keeping your GPS maps up-to-date helps to reduce the stress of getting lost or confused while you’re trying to navigate a new area. TomTom makes it easy to keep your maps current and it only takes a few minutes.

First, you’ll want to make sure that you have the most recent version of the TomTom Home software installed on your computer. This application is free to download and is used to communicate between your TomTom device and your computer.

After launching TomTom Home, click “Check for Updates” and the application will search for any available patches, software, map updates, or device updates for your TomTom. If you see the option to “Upload” a new map, then you can select it and TomTom Home will take you through the necessary steps to purchase and download a new map for your device.

Once you have purchased and downloaded the map update, you can now sync your TomTom device with TomTom Home. You can do this by connecting the USB cable that was included with your TomTom device to your computer and then connecting the other end of the cable to the USB port on your TomTom. TomTom Home will then detect the device and let you know that it’s connected.

Now that your device is connected, you should be able to click ‘Install” under the Map Updates section in TomTom Home. This will begin the installation process of the new map on your device and can take a few minutes depending on the size of the map and the speed of your computer.

Once your new map has been installed, you can now disconnect your TomTom device from the computer and start using the updated map.
